Topic: Future Directions of India-Korea Relations

Recently India and Korea have a bilateral summit meeting between prime minister of India Mr. Manmohan Singh and president of Korea Mr. Lee Myung Bak. Both leaders noted with satisfactions the excellent state of relations between two countries.
Since the inception of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) the trade relations between two countries have grown more than 70% crossing the US$20 billion line last year. New target of US$40 billion by 2015 is said to be easily achievable. Indian side also specifically emphasized the importance of investment from Korea as a priority area for Indian infrastructure development.
Apart from building business ties the two leaders also took enough care to stress the growing strategic partnership between the two countries. Both countries agreed to expand cooperation and coordination between their two countries on strategic and security related issues facing the region and the world as a whole
This roundtable seeks to provide an opportunity to Indian and Korean scholars to examine the future direction of India and Korea relations in light of the gains made during the recent summit meetings between two countries.
